Zoe's Unique Definition
(Short snippet from chapter in book)
Zoe is rarely used by Jesus or the NT authors to refer to “life” in a temporal sense, like it might have commonly been used in the prevailing Greek culture of their time, or even in the manner that the word “life” is perceived in English today.

On the other hand zoe is the specific word that Jesus and the NT authors always used when referring to the type of life that God gives as the gift of salvation to the believer.

Every time they talk about the type of life that we have in Christ, they never use the word psuche, they always use the word zoe.

When Jesus uses the word "zoe" it is almost always referring to either:
-
The type of life that God and Jesus have within themselves.
-
The status of a believer after they have crossed over from a sentence of death to life.
-
The type of life that a person enters into when they believe.
-
Zoe is contrasted as being the opposite of remaining dead forever.
-
This status of zoe includes assurance of living forever.
-
The eternal life (eternal zoe) that a believer receives when they are resurrected from the dead.
